Preserving wealth

Every client’s situation will be unique, however, there are a number of areas we will need to look at to protect your hard earned assets.
Areas we will look at include a well written Will, understanding any Tax liabilities such as Inheritance Tax.

Consultation

We help our clients through the process using a series of family workshops and consultations. By including your children in the process they become aware how wealth can be distributed and retained down the generations.

Analysis & research

If you decide you wish to continue with the advice process, we will conduct a comprehensive review of your existing arrangements in line with your stated objectives. This may mean contacting existing product providers to establish the exact type of plan you have, its benefits, costs and objectives.

Recommendation & implementation

After completing thorough research, we will meet again to discuss our recommendations to support your current and future objectives.

Will writing involves the referral to a service that is separate and distinct to those offered by St. James’s Place. Wills are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

At retirement

Liberty’s expert advice will help you make the most of your retirement plans so you can enjoy a care-free retirement. New flexible rules mean you can access the money in a variety of ways, and we will advise on the most tax-efficient method for you. We can also show you how to pass funds on to family members, helping you with potential Inheritance Tax issues along the way.

Tax planning

Effective tax planning is important to the management of your wealth. From tax-efficient savings wrappers to pension planning, we help you understand the tax reliefs available to you and ensure you make the most of them. If you have more than one property, you’ll need to think about Capital Gains tax, and your Liberty adviser can help you through that as well.

Protection

The 2020 pandemic has shown the importance of protecting you and your family from financial loss and hardship. If ill health or job loss strike, what income will you have? There are a variety of plans that protect against long term unemployment, disability and critical illness, and we can help you choose the right one. And if you’re worried about Inheritance Tax there’s also a plan to protect your estate from that – just ask your adviser.

Long-term care

The cost of long-term care in older age is a significant worry for many families. Effective financial planning can enable you to independently meet the cost of ongoing care, and retain the freedom to make choices about your health, medical treatment and where you live. Liberty can help you do this in the most tax-efficient way with an eye to retaining as much of your wealth as possible to pass down to the next generation.

The levels and bases of taxation and reliefs from taxation can change at any time. The value of any tax relief depends on individual circumstances.
