Liberty Next –
Let’s build your
future together.

We often meet client’s children when we are administering their affairs.

Our next generation is here to help yours. Liberty was set up in 1994, and we are now helping our clients’ children and grandchildren with their financial futures. The second generation of advisers in our team, including Principal Lee Devonald’s daughters; Adviser Lauren Sorenson and Paraplanner Lisa Devonald, along with Chartered Financial Planner Chris Webb, are now working under the Liberty Next banner. Liberty Next looks ahead to the next generation and beyond, encouraging good financial habits to start early. Whether it’s paying into a pension or tucking away regular savings into an ISA, Chris, Lauren and Lisa will help your family start to talk about money, and plan for the future.

Background

Liberty Next is an initiative that will enable us to meet and engage with your children and grandchildren in a relaxed informal way.

Purpose

The idea that we can start to build a relationship with the next generation is crucial in us administering your wishes and is key to seamless succession planning

Services

It may be that by including the Next generation in the discussions around your financial planning that we may start to help with their own financial planning, this might be their first mortgage, a pension or even an ISA.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage

The value of an investment with St. James’s Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

The favourable tax treatment of ISAs may not be maintained in the future and is subject to changes in legislation.

Liberty Next
approach

Liberty Next offers the highest standards of financial advice from our in-house experts across a range of platforms.

Consultation

We help our clients through the process using a series of family workshops and consultations. By including your children in the process they become aware how wealth can be distributed and retained down the generations.

Analysis & research

If you decide you wish to continue with the advice process, we will conduct a comprehensive review of your existing arrangements in line with your stated objectives. This may mean contacting existing product providers to establish the exact type of plan you have, its benefits, costs and objectives.

Recommendation & implementation

After completing thorough research, we will meet again to discuss our recommendations to support your current and future objectives.

Ongoing review

Our ongoing relationship will involve regular face-to-face or telephone review meetings to discuss any changing personal circumstances. We also provide you with access to regular communications agreed with you at the outset, which can include 24-hour access to your Wealth Account on our website, annual and half yearly reports, a weekly Market Bulletin, tax year-end reminders of the available allowances and tax-saving opportunities, Budget reaction summaries, our regular Liberty Podcasts and Webinars, invitations to client events and briefings, and access to the E-briefing Service which provides topical financial news articles via email.

Chris Webb

Chris Webb

Chartered Financial Planner

Chris joined Liberty in February 2008 and quickly became fully qualified later that year. He enjoys working with people of all ages to build long term plans and relationships, whether this be for retirement, investment or tax planning.

In 2018 Chris achieved Chartered Financial Planner status, the gold standard within the financial advice sector. Lauren Sorensen

Lauren Sorensen

Financial Adviser

Lauren worked as a legal PA for seven years in London before deciding to join her father’s company in 2009. Starting as Practice Manager, looking after clients’ admin and marketing, she then decided to study to become a Financial Planner.

In 2016 Lauren completed the St. James’s Place Next Generation Academy and achieved her Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. She now specialises in advising the children and grandchildren of long-established Liberty clients, helping launch then on the start of their financial journeys, from saving for their first home to planning a pension. She’s particularly passionate about being able to provide financial education to the next generation so that they have the knowledge and confidence to save effectively for their future.

No doubt Lauren will be passing these lessons on to her own small children, Jake and Phoebe, when they are old enough. Aside from spending time with husband Dave and the family, Lauren also plays netball twice a week in a local team.

Lisa-Jane Devonald

Lisa-Jane Devonald

Paraplanner

After several years as a secondary school teacher, Lisa decided to change course and join the family business in 2016. Having spent many school holidays with her Dad in the office, it seemed a natural progression. Her sister Lauren was pregnant with her second child, so Lisa stepped in as Practice Manager and has never looked back.

Since then she’s taken the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning with the St. James’s Place Paraplanner Academy in 2019 and now supports the team with client advice. Lisa particularly enjoys the challenge of considering every client’s differing circumstances, and is proud to be part of a family business that her father has built from scratch that looks after other families.

One element of Lisa’s job she particularly enjoys is bringing her sausage dog Mabel to work! Other than that, Lisa enjoys cooking for fiancé, Toby, reading and films.
